Thirty-Two Long Years of "Immorality", "Insanity"`, and "Criminality" in My Life and Times As An Anti-PAP Writer and Critic

My Open Revelation As A

Writer/Political Critic:

Coming Out From My Years As An

Underground Fighter

Why am I undermining my credibility as a writer and political critic with anti-PAP views by publicly claiming that I am an "implantee" of the PAP Government? Did I actually work as a secret mole, a covert agent or a double agent?

Well, I am ready to come out with the truth now, as I have total confidence in my judgment that the time and circumstance is now right for such a revelation.

I want to reveal to readers of my blog and web postings the real intention of such a "confession". My intention is: I want to, as an anti-PAP writer and critic, to draw the public's attention to my past attempt to protect myself as an aspiring writer and critic with long-held anti-PAP views and opinions.

To elaborate: Why would I want to claim that I am working for the PAP Government as a secret mole or covert agent or double agent? Am I a government employee in the first place? Doesn't such a claim invite readers of my blog and web postings to ask questions--as I have become recognised as an anti-PAP critic and commentator?

Readers of this present blog (http://afighterandalovertoo.blogspot.com/) and of my other related blogs (http://wholecity.blogspot.com/; and http://pre-implantationdays.blogspot.com/) would already have known that I was once a clerical officer working in the Registry of the Military Security Department in the Ministry of Defence from December 1975 to October 1976.

Having also revealed the reasons for my resignation from MSD in these blogs, I am now claiming that I am STILL working for the PAP Government! Why?

This is my disclosure for the first time in my blogs: the PAP Government has been, since my resignation from MSD in 1976, trying to prevent me from being a successful writer and political critic with anti-PAP and, especially, anti-LKY views!

I had assumed several guises, roles and capacities in the last 32 years--especially beginning from the year 1985--as a "schizophrenic", a "sexual offender" and a "thief"--in order to feign my "neutralised" condition, so as to shield and to protect myself from any government harassment and intimidation. Meanwhile, during these years of living underground, I conducted self-training and self-education for my future role and vocation as a PUBLISHED political critic and writer with widely-recognised views that are critical of the PAP Government!

The PAP Government has thus not been able to destroy me effectively as a critic and writer with anti-PAP views! For I have been biding my time during all these years--waiting for the right time and circumstances to come out openly and publicly to establish myself, finally, as a self-trained and self-educated critic and writer, with PUBLISHED anti-PAP opinions and beliefs!

My cause has been fortunately aided by the advent of the Internet--so that I can now quickly and easily PUBLISH, in the electronic media, opinions and ideas that would once not have been accepted for PUBLICATION by local publishers, whose timidity and fear of offending the PAP Government would have prevented them from PUBLISHING my anti-PAP writings!

That is why, during the last few months, beginning from April 2008, Internet users have been able to read my DARING, CHALLENGING and DEFIANT anti-PAP blog and web postings regularly--aimed at inspiring, encouraging and supporting opposition parties and critics of the PAP Government!

The Straits Times' Relationship With The Singapore Government

The Straits Times and the Singapore Government-- Mutual

Masturbators in Public

The Straits Times is the most hated and criticised Singapore newspaper--politically spineless, predictable and long discredicted by its own group of unabashedly PAP ball-carrying, deceitful, unprincipled and, most importantly, well-paid "journalists". Lee Kuan Yew's role in transforming the long-established national newspaper into a big mouthpiece for the PAP Government is already well-known. God knows how many intelligence and security officers and agents from the PAP Government had been associated with the newspaper in various capacities, guises and positions in the past--and how many of the newer members are now serving in the current paper as "journalists"!

Truly independent, honest and fair-minded journalists--with professional integrity, pride and self-respect--would never have willingly allowed themselves to be so controlled and manipulated by the PAP rulers, day-in and day-out. They are not brave and honest enough to provide a true and accurate account of Singapore's developments, achievements and successes--with particular reference to the denial and suppression of human rights and democratic values by the PAP rulers.

For instance, they repeatedly and easily assume, like the PAP rulers, that Singapore's economic successes have provided them with a justification for the PAP Government's trampling of democratic values and human rights in Singapore. They refuse to question the durability and sustainability of a system based solely or mainly on economic successes. They just repeat the old argument by the PAP rulers that political freedoms will bring chaos and disintegration to Singapore society. They never ask how convincing and effective the curent PM is, as a "good" and "able" national leader?

The Straits Times tries to keep up with the times and move in tune to the age of electronic media by joining Internet surfers and bloggers in more active online expressions and discussions. But they forget that it is not the medium of communication that determines how credible or professional you are as a journalist. Rather, both the chosen subject matter (and you know how ST journalists choose--or not choose--certain subjects!) and the preferred manner of its presentation and expression (which, at present, is highly technocratic and scientific) will determine how readers or net surfers accept or reject their ideas, values and opinions--and also the presented facts and information (cunningly selective, contrived or manipulated, as commonly practiced by them at present).

I cannot clearly see how the present newspaper can change from its long-time government-controlled journalistic practices adopted in these two aspects of journalism--until there is a change of government, from the present autocratic and authoritarian one to a truly democratic and responsive government.

I can easily predict that The Straits Times will continue to be detested and dismissed by readers and online surfers for its lack of credibility, independence and professional integrity.

Non-Available Books by Political Dissidents, Critics and Opponents of the PAP Government

To the Chief Executive of National Library Board, Singapore:

Please take the time (and expend the necessary effort) to carefully read this letter, posted liberally in this liberated blog of mine. It is an important document that has taken me much time and effort to create.

I wish, chiefly, to draw your proper attention to the disappointing, perplexing and puzzling NLB policy and practice of:

  1. keeping most books written by political dissidents, critics and opponents of the PAP Government of Singapore in the REFERENCE Sections of your public libraries (where they are only available for mere consultation, reference and on-the-spot reading);
  2. NOT keeping most of the same already-mentioned books in the Adult LENDING Sections of your public libraries (which ensures that these books could not be BORROWED by readers interested in Singapore politics);
  3. NOT ensuring that important, relevant and outstanding books written by political dissidents, critics and opponents of the PAP Government of Singapore should be freely AVAILABLE not only for reading by the public in the Reference Sections of the public libraries but also, and more importantly, for BORROWING by interested readers, who may want to retain these books at home or in their possession for at least 3 weeks (the permitted borrowing period for books)--so that they can have enough time to absorb and understand the contents of the books at their own convenience and leisure;
  4. NOT maintaining a high standard of professional library service to the Singaporean public as civil servants--by not PURCHASING and DISPLAYING in the Adult LENDING Sections of the public libraries (for readers to borrow) all the following important, relevant and outstanding published contributions and works on Singapore politics by critics, dissidents and opponents of the PAP Government of Singapore--namely (just to give you a brief list of these books):
  • To Catch A Tartar: A Dissident in Lee Kuan Yew's Prison (Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut: 1994) by Francis Seow;
  • The Singapore Miracle: Myth and Reality (Insight Press, Australia: 2006) by Rodney King;
  • The Spirit of Democracy: The Struggle To Build Free Societies Throughout the World (Times Books, New York: 2008) by Larry Diamond;
  • Beyond Suspicion? The Singapore Judiciary (Yale University, USA: 2007) by Francis Seow;
  • The Media Enthralled: Singapore Revisited (Lynn Rienner, Boulder, Colorado: 1998) by Francis Seow;
  • Those Who Dare: Voices of Asia's Democrats (Alliance for Reform and Democracy in Asia: 2006);
  • Singapore: The Ultimate Island (Lee Kuan Yew's Untold Story) [Freeway Books, Australia: 1990] by T.S. Selvan;
  • Singapore, My Home Too (SDP, Singapore: 1995) by Chee Soon Juan;
  • Dare To Change: An Alternative Vision For Singapore (SDP, Singapore: 1994) by Chee Soon Juan;
  • The Power of Courage: Effecting Political Change in Singapore Through Nonviolence (SDP, Singapore: 2005) by Chee Soon Juan;
  • The Singapore Puzzle (Westport, Praeger, Connecticut: 1999) by Michael Haas (editor);
  • The Political Economy of Social Control in Singapore (Macmillan, London: 1994) by Christopher Tremewan.

For your kind, deep, thoughtful, honest, wise, careful, unhindered, unhampered, unconstrained, unobstructed, unimpeded and unrestricted consideration, attention and, most important of all, action!

How The Election System in Singapore Can Be Reformed With Wisdom

TO THE HEAD OF ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT,
PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE:

Every sincere and honest Singapore citizen is crying out for the reform of the unfair electoral system in Singapore. In its present form, it is a disgrace to democracies all over the world and an insult to our intelligence.

You, as the Head of Elections Department, have played your part in ensuring that our system of democratic elections is not to be respected in any way. Were you even-handed and equitable in your handling of election matters--like electioneering or campaigning requirements or regulations; voting rules, procedures and practices; and the use of your official jurisdiction in dealing with opposition parties?

As you surely know, ordinary Singaporeans are already prevented by the PAP Government-controlled media from free and open access to comprehensive and fair reporting of the campaign issues and subjects raised by opposition parties during the unjustly short campaign period. They are denied vital information about opposition parties' candidates--their character, educational and professional backgrounds, political beliefs, intentions, plans, messages and views (all of which play an important part in influencing their voting decisions).

Given such an obvious handicap created by the government-controlled media, the least you can do, as the honourable and respectable Head of Elections Department, is to ensure that you do not persist in supporting our PAP leaders in cheating Singaporeans of their democratic rights--by ensuring that all election candidates have a fair and equal chance in the elections. Otherwise, you would be throwing whatever remaining little trust we have in the system of our government here into the dustbin of history. I am not accusing you of corruption and dishonesty; I am just asking you to be independent, autonomous and democratic.

Please read carefully Dr Chee Soon Juan's book, YOUR FUTURE, MY FAITH, OUR FREEDOM (2001; pp. 39-41), on the much-needed vital reform of our election system. You will be surprised that a "psychopath" like Dr Chee can give Singaporeans and readers all over the world such an instructive and perceptive overview of the necessary steps and measures needed to transform our presently unequal, fettered and untrustworthy election system--into one which citizens all over the world can finally respect and applaud without reservations.

To summarise very briefly what Dr Chee has proposed: The GRC system is a blatant insult to the intelligence of the citizens of Singapore. It is supposedly designed, in theory, to ensure minority racial representations in Parliament. But in practice, as Dr Chee says in the above-mentioned book, under this system, voters are prevented from choosing the candidates they want.

Also, MPs should be elected by the people if they are to have seats in Parliament. Dates for elections must be fixed and be well-known in advance by candidates. Campaign periods must be longer than the presently stipulated usual ones. Contesting parties should be allowed the freedom to choose the time and sites for their rallies. Finally, and most importantly, an independent Elections Commission must be instituted. (Can you submit this particular proposal, as the Head of Elections Department in the PMO, to PAP leaders--so that your department can be replaced by the said commission instead? The decisions of this proposed commission must be submitted to parliament for approval and it must be accountable to the courts.)

Please do read attentively the full text in Dr Chee's book, Mr Lee Seng Lup. It is full of political wisdom and democratic insight--all that is missing from our current autocratic and authoritarian PAP Government. I hope you will respond positively to the proposed and discussed changes to our present election system.

More Than Satisfying Basic Needs

A Life of Ideals, Principles and Values
The PAP leaders are only interested in acquiring huge amount of wealth and in preserving their unjustly-gotten political power. Don't they realise that man actually has few needs but many important goals?
It is not enough merely to have good food, expensive alcoholic drinks, good looks, sexual satisfaction, good health, expensive clothes, physical and material comfort, impressive educational and professional qualifications, expensive houses and expensive cars.
One must also be devoted to ideals and principles and be creative and knowledgeable. Each one of us is an unique individual and he must be allowed to express and to realize this unique individuality of his freely. One should never conform to the herd mentality and become an automaton in a free society.
What is the use of having a long life if you fail to be, in your relationship with your fellow human beings, loving, friendly, respectful, rational, caring, responsible and understanding? For, if you succeed in becoming such a person of values, principles and ideals, it would be the mark of a truly happy and wise person.

Freedom versus Government Control

From: Freedom in Chains: The Rise of the State and the Demise of the Citizen
(New York: St Martin's Press, 1999) by James Bovard

The alternative to freedom is government control, which means manipulation and exploitation by liars and hypocrites. The loss of freedom does not occur in a vacuum; instead, it sets off a chain reaction that is sure to drag people lower than they expect. The opening of the borders of private lives to government intrusion is not the final act of some grandiose political drama, but merely the beginning of a sordid, predictable farce. The loss of freedom does not simply mean that people will have fewer choices in how they live; instead, it means that other people will have new prerogatives to command how they live and to punish them for disobeying. And the greater the power at stake, the more noxious the people who are likely to eventually get the grip on the reins.
